Catherine Benjamin
"Though she be but little, she is fierce."
Catherine is an actor, singer, immersive theatre-maker and fledgling voice actor homegrown on the North Shore, currently based in Cambridge. She holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Salem State University (class of ‘15). During her time in Salem, she grew an immense fondness for the witch city and its tightly bonded creative community. She has proudly worked with many Salem and Salem-adjacent companies, including Intramersive Media, Arts After Hours, and Third Citizen Theatre Company, and has performed at the Salem Arts Festival and events by Creative Collective. She was employed as a historical interpreter at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum for nearly four years, performing as a variety of historical 18th century figures in the daily museum experience as well as immersive events such as Huzzah! Tavern Nights and the Annual Boston Tea Party Reenactment. In Greater Boston she has worked with Arlington Friends of the Drama, The Longwood Players, The Theater Offensive, and The Opposite of People. Her work with Intramersive Media on Daemonologie: Blood and Bone and The Hawthorne Hotel’s Masquerade Ball events Winds of Winter and Burtonesque opened her awareness to the creative wonder and potential of immersive theatre, and she hopes to continue to pursue immersive collaborative work. Her creative fire is most often kindled by highly collaborative environments and theatre that reaches out to and embraces the communities it serves. Her future goals include pursuing more work in the realm of applied theatre, with a focus on provoking social change and deepening the actor’s relationship with the audience.
